Since the spring of 1995, the NCCU Sound Machine "Band Blast" activity has been a shared project coordinated with NCCU band staff, students, alumni, and the NCCU Sound Machine Booster Club to stimulate recruitment interest regarding the NCCU band program among potentially qualified and talented high school students. Usually, during NCCU's Open House events, very promising High School musicians are invited by the NCCU Marching Sound Machine to audition for possible future band membership. High School students also participate in related band and other musical clinics, briefings and workshops. High School students, guests, and parents participate in student fellowship activities with NCCU Sound Machine band members, faculty, staff and alumni.
